Shoulder Dysfunction


 

 

 

Shoulder dysfunctions can be cause by numerous things. 

1)                   Bursitis

2)                   Neck problems can refer pain to the shoulder and can cause weakness

3)                   Rotator cuff tendonitis (bad posture, injury, repetitive strain, strain – aka swimmers shoulder)

4)                   Frozen shoulder (rotator cuff tendonitis gone bad) Dysfunctional arm elevation, the brains inability to synchronize the movement – over time the cartilage in your joint will become hard from disuse.

5)                   Pain referral from:   heart and gall bladder

6)                   Acromian joint (where the clavical bone joins the scapula – shoulder blade)

7)                   Arthritis and traumatic arthritis (after an injury – if not worked with can turn into frozen shoulder)

Symptoms will differ depending on the cause.  You may not be able to sleep on your should because of the pain or it may only be painful when doing certain actions.  Proper assessment is important to find the cause and treat the problem.

Massage Treatment 

We do an assessment to isolate the problems and set up a program to work through it reducing the pain and increasing the range of motion you have back in your shoulder.  The program changes depending on the tissues involved.
